I think the people who complain that Jennifer Lawrence didn’t show enough emotion in the Hunger Games forget that THAT WAS THE POINT. Katniss’s mom just basically shut the entire world out, and Katniss was scared people on the outside would notice. She didn’t want Prim being taken away and sent off to another home where Katniss couldn’t look after her and make sure she was taken care of. So she literally trained herself to show no emotions. She had to make sure no one on the outside knew the hell she was suffering on the inside.
